Intensive Russian Attacks Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and encountered problems to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has intensified assaults on power infrastructure over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and applying penalties," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty missiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from city authorities.

Area administrators said the urban area endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A young boy lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The strikes succeed evenings of bombing campaigns in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to spot.

Authorities told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the national power system, with assaults already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated energy workers and officials were preparing for further attacks.
